REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL (RFP) – CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT SERVICES

Historic Jackson House Restoration & Rebuilding Project.

Step into an evening where history comes alive.

A Night at the Jackson House

A Night at the Jackson House is an original live musical written by playwright and Jackson House Foundation Board Member Jelyn Leyv, celebrating the extraordinary cultural legacy of Tampa’s Historic Jackson House — once the heartbeat of African American excellence, entertainment, and a part of the Central Avenue community.

During the mid-twentieth century, the Jackson House at 851 East Zack Street was the premier destination in Tampa Bay for legendary performers, civil rights leaders, and everyday community members who found belonging within its walls. Tonight, you will experience that story on stage as a “live reading” and help us bring the story to life.

Guests will enjoy an unforgettable evening of music, and storytelling that honors Tampa’s African American heritage — while directly supporting the restoration and preservation of one of the city’s most significant historic landmarks, listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

About Us

Past, Present, to Future

The Jackson House was Tampa's only 24-room boarding house for African Americans during segregation. Owned by Moses and Sarah Jackson who moved to Tampa in the 1800's, they built this home in 1901. The only lodging for Blacks in the 1940's sent from the Robinson's Barbershop and the clubs on Central Avenue.
